Our Private Pilot course is designed to provide you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to earn your FAA Private Pilot Certificate. To earn a Private Pilot Certificate, you must meet the following FAA training, experience, and testing requirements:


  Flight Hours: A minimum of 40 total flight hours, including:
20 hours of flight training with an instructor.
10 hours of solo flight time.
Specific Flight Training (within the 20 instructor-led hours):
3 hours of cross-country flight training.
3 hours of night flight training, including:
One cross-country flight over 100 nautical miles.
10 takeoffs and landings to a full stop.
3 hours of instrument flight training.
Solo Flight Requirements (within the 10 solo flight hours):
5 hours of solo cross-country flights.
One solo cross-country flight of at least 150 nautical miles, with full-stop landings at 3 points, and one segment longer than 50 nautical miles.
3 solo takeoffs and landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating control tower.
FAA Knowledge Test:
Pass the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test (written exam).
FAA Practical Test (Checkride):
Pass the final oral and flight exam conducted by a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).
Medical Certificate:
Obtain at least a Third-Class Medical Certificate before soloing.
